| Horse racing first took place at East Cote, as it was
originally known, in 1711 when Queen Anne decided that
the area was ideal place for "horses to gallop
at full stretch".
Ascot has retained close links
with the Royal Family ever since then and is the only
true Royal racing event in the world.
Royal Ascot is the epitome
of style and sophistication. It is one of the leading
events of both the racing and social calendar and for
many it is the highlight of the summer. Over four glorious
days in June over 250,000 race-goers can escape to
a world of excitement, exhilaration and indulgence.
