Horse racing first took place at East Cote, as it was originally known, in 1711 when Queen Anne decided that the area was ideal place for "horses to gallop at full stretch".

Ascot has retained close links with the Royal Family ever since then and is the only true Royal racing event in the world.

Royal Ascot is the epitome of style and sophistication. It is one of the leading events of both the racing and social calendar and for many it is the highlight of the summer. Over four glorious days in June over 250,000 race-goers can escape to a world of excitement, exhilaration and indulgence.

Ladies Day, where top class racing is combined with tradition pagentry and style. Ladies Day in 2004 occurs on Thursday 17 June.

This full day tour departs from Central London on on 15th June, 16th June, 17th June, 19th June 8am - 6pm. Free pick up from most Central London Hotels.

	Racing was first held at Ascot on Saturday 11th August 1711. After Queen Anne's death in 1714 racing was suspended until, in 1744, the Duke of Cumberland reopened the course. The first time the 4 day meeting was held was in June 1768. The cup itself was stolen and not recovered during the 1907 race.
